Alex has always been a singer (or at least since she heard Celine sang “My Heart Will Go On” for the first time) but never thought she had her own stories to tell. That is until attempting to hike the Pacific Crest Trail in 2016 which did not turn out the way she had hoped. Without a home to return to, she and her husband set out for Washington with food, ice axes, and a goal to make it to the Mexican border. Three weeks in, Alex’s feet were covered in blisters, joints ached with freezing temperatures and overuse, and her spirit was crushed under the weight of failure and doubts. She left the trail (including her husband who would go on to finish the hike three months later) and lived with friends, drove for Lyft, and was drawn to her pen and ukulele for healing.

Three years later, after having a kid, completely deconstructing her Christian faith, and continuing life in San Francisco, these songs kept speaking to her and she got the itch to share them. They had become a dear friend who helped her through a time of desperation, confusion, and reformation, and she hopes they may be the same for anyone who needs them.
